Personal Background
My conscious journey began in college when I was diagnosed with a serious illness induced by stress. Heeding my doctor’s advice, I significantly changed my outlook and life rhythms, which included starting daily meditation practices. After my body healed, I decided to prioritize living my fullest health and well-being above all else…and assist others in doing the same. For almost three decades I've done so both while serving as a manager and consultant in the business and non-profit worlds, as well as through conducting private healing sessions with clients.
A deeper dive Ever since I was young, I’ve had a sense that there's something much larger and more magical than everyday life, including the feeling that each of us is alive for an important purpose. As a result, I felt a deep commitment and desire to become the best person I could be. Yet, as a teenager in a culture glorifying achievement, this striving translated into an ego-attachment to worldly success: good grades, sports victories, etc. It was early in my time at college that I was gifted with a life-changing illness that caused me to completely rethink my worldview. While I didn’t completely reject achievement in the ‘outer-world’, I decided that my life and career would not center around what the culture valued as success, but rather what the perennial wisdom for millennia has stressed: a life of growth, empowerment, and love centered in Divine oneness and service to others. I committed to living my highest health, well-being, and self-actualization at all levels – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Since that time in the early 1990s, I've devoted hours of each day to both left and right-brain work of the journey, including research, trainings, personal healing, and centering disciplines (e.g. meditation, prayer, and Tai Chi). I've had to discover and heal through that which got in my way, including issues with my ego, forgiveness, past traumas, fears, doubts, etc. It was difficult at first, but gradually life became filled with more love, joy, and a deep sense of peace. I was inspired by the beauty of what I saw as possible, which then led to a desire to serve others. So, at my first post-college job in the business world, I began teaching meditation to hundreds of employees hungry for more peace in their lives. This experience moved me to explore more deeply the arts of holistic healing and intuitive guidance, which included trainings in Craniosacral healing, Reiki, past life facilitation, and relationship counseling. During the fourteen years serving as the director of two retreat centers, I also facilitated individual guidance and healing work with staff members, program participants, and private clients. Since leaving the second center in 2010, this work has been core to my life service. Along the way, my partner and I have had a number of deeply moving and truly miraculous experiences, both with clients and in our personal lives. These have convinced my inner skeptic that we humans are grander beings than we often feel....extraordinarily loved and valued. And the Universe is infinitely larger and more miraculous than we often experience in our everyday culture. Of course, life hasn't always been easy: I've had many painful days ... and certainly made my share of mistakes. But, after almost three decades and hundreds of people served, I know that the purpose of my life is to move through my challenges to embody my greatest light, and help others to do the same. My clients have found that my experience, insights, and approach lead to powerful, tangible results. I work with clients remotely via phone or video calls, or in person in the Finger Lakes region of New York (occasionally I travel for workshops or sessions).
